How do you get the Brotherhood of steel to take over settlements?

You need to convince a farming settlent to donate crops to the BoS. IF, AND ONLY IF you pass the persuation check with the X button (convincing them to donate, rather than buying the crops or threatening them to pay trubute) a message will pop up saying "The Brotherhood of Steel now controls this settlement"

Can I have a Brotherhood of Steel controlled settlement controlled by Minutemen?

I'm guessing this is forcing you to make a choice between having a Brotherhood of Steel controlled area and having the settlement controlled by the Minutemen or whatever. Does anybody have any thoughts on this? It makes sense. If the Minutemen have the settlement then technically it is your settlement as you are the leader of the Minutemen.

At least until Billion Quest Preston sends you to re-recruit them. If he does... not sure if he actually does. Also, the BoS seem to only target settlements that are pre-existing. So any you build up yourself, will always be yours.

Yeah, I am fairly certain that even if you refuse to join the Minutemen, it still forces any settlements you rescue to ally with them. But if you do not rescue Preston, then you just get commentary about how people miss the Minutemen, with you acting like the general moron the writing makes you out to be, when you forget everything as soon as somebody tells you, so you get to act all confused the next time somebody brings it up.

The Commonwealth

The Brotherhood sent three scout missions into the Commonwealth. First, an unnamed recon squad volunteered to go into the Commonwealth, then Recon Squad Artemis led by Paladin Brandis and Recon Squad Gladius led by Paladin Danse. The first scout team was successful.

After discovering advanced signals originating from the Institute, the Prydwen traveled to the Commonwealth. The Brotherhood established its headquarters Boston Airport.

How to get to the decontamination room in the Brotherhood?

Once you reach the reactor room, you will have to enter the decontamination room. Use this time to pop some rad-x. Quickly go up the stairs and retrieve the agitator. This will cause turrets to come online. Destroy them and reenter the decontamination area. A small army of synths, including a sentry bot, will come after you. You will then have to make your way to the lobby through a separate elevator. You can help the Brotherhood defeat the remaining synths in the lobby, or you can exit the building right away.

Who determined Paladin Danse to be a synth and to be in exile?

Elder Maxon will inform you that Proctor Quinlan has determined Paladin Danse to be a synth and to be in exile. He will order you to find and kill him. Quinlan will give you a list of locations to search, but if you sympathize with Scribe Haylen, she will tell you where he is.

Where to find the Brotherhood in the AF95?

Somewhere around Lexington, you will pick up a radio signal named “Military Frequency AF95”. If you listen to it, you will hear a distress signal coming from the Cambridge police station. This will start the quest and mark the Cambridge Police Station on your map. You may also find the Brotherhood in the quest “Reveille” mentioned above.

Where to meet the Brotherhood Knight?

When you arrive, a Brotherhood Knight will tell you to meet the Brotherhood at the Cambridge Police Station. Sometimes you will get the quest, but the marker will not show up at the Boston Airport and the Knight will not speak to you. All you need to do is travel to the Cambridge Police Station to complete the quest.

Is the Brotherhood of Steel quest necessary?

This quest is not necessary. After the main story quest “Reunions”, you will see the Brotherhood of Steel ship called the Pryden flying across the Commonwealth. If you have not previously completed the Brotherhood quest “Fire Support”, then this quest will become available.
