The reward for having full provinces is huge, so you're almost force to make war on your allies if the AI takes a settlement that's in your area. If they're afraid of it being abused, they could limit it to being able to give settlements when you own settlements in the same province.

Is there a way to give a settlement to another faction?

I took over a settlement but now it says I'm running low on food, so I want to give it to another faction as a bargaining chip like I used to do in Medieval 2. Nope there is no way, and and there wasn't in shogun. The reason though they kept it in rome is to drive you to declare war more often.

What are the best provinces to start Shogun 2?

Provinces with the "Smithing" specialty/resource are the key to easy victory in Shogun 2. There are 5 such provinces, they are: SATSUMA (Shimazu start), BIZEN, KAGA, (one of Ikko-Ikki starting provinces), SAGAMI (Hojo start), and IWATE (Date start).

Do you give settlements as gifts to your allies?

I use to give settlements as gifts to my allys so that i could be moer friendly to them and what not It would also be a lot easier to get peace treaties with the AI that way.

What factions are good for Shimazu?

TIP: Shimazu, Mori and Chokosabe are great starting factions if you are new to the game, because the strategy for Shimazu is to secure their island, then conquer right until just before Realm Divide and then prepare. The same applies to the Mori and Chokosabe, except they go left to secure Shimazu/Otomo island. Then you post navies on either side of your territory to watch for the AI trying to sneak a fleet with a full army into your rear.

Why are Ashigaru and Katana Samurai different?

Why? Because normal Yari Ashigaru have +4 Melee Attack while normal Katana Samurai have +12 Melee Attack. Give your Ashigaru +6 and now they have 10 Melee Attack. With high Veteran ranks they could very well climb to +16 Melee Attack, and that is not including the General skill that gives Ashigaru +3 Melee Attack. And remember, Ashigaru units have more soldiers than Samurai units. Basically, unlike Rome 2 where I do not believe you could ever get peasant level units anywhere near as good as Praetorians no matter how many upgrades or veteran levels they had, in Shogun 2, you can essentially make your cheapest, "worst" melee infantry into killing machines that will wreck even the best Samurai. Now technically if you were fighting another human player, Samurai could be increased by the same +6 Melee Attack and therefore keep the large difference in stats to Ashigaru and therefore Samurai could still mulch Ashigaru easily in that situation, BUT, the AI is very unlikely to do that. Therefore, you can make your Ashigaru better than the AI's Samurai and so mulch the AI's forces with a horde of cheap but now powerful units.

How many Bow Kobaya do you need to get Fire Arrows?

Research the tech that gives you Fire Arrows. Recruit 5-6 Bow Kobaya. Note that Bow Kobaya get a speed boost skill.

How much armor do you need to be a master weaponsmith?

In certain provinces you can build a Master Weaponsmith (+4 Melee Attack) or Master Armourer (+3 Armour). You can also build the encampment building which you can then turn into an Armoury (+2 Armour) or a Jujutsu Dojo (+2 Melee Attack); for a total of either +6 Melee Attack or +5 Armour for units recruited in that province.

Why is the bar in the clan management screen yellow?

On your Clan Management screen, there is a bar that fills up in yellow as the Shogun notices your achievements and growing threat to him. Once that bar gets full, Realm Divide happens.

How much honor do you need to get Daimyo?

3) Getting a Daimyo to 9 Honor is essential if you want to follow a strategy of looting towns a lot, because you can only lose a max of -3 honor and then no more penalties for looting, and as long as you have 6 honor, you are golden.

Is TWWH2 playable?

Played since Rome 1 and been trying to like mods on every one i played (skipped shoguns and empire as those titles didn't appeal to me), compared to some Bethesda games you mentioned i feel different, but mainly because some of those games aren't even playable without. TWWH2 is absolutely playable. Only wishing it'd be just a little better

Can mods fix Steam achievements?

Yeah, mods could fix this but i don't really do mods as they discourage the creator of fixing the actual game, prevents you of getting steam achievements (?) and even the real big ones tend just not feel just right.

What makes S2 sieges memorable?

Personally, what makes S2 sieges memorable to me is that fact that AI goes for sieges where the balanced of power is almost equal . You can usually win them relatively easily, but at least the AI shows some activity. From Rome 2 onward, I have the impression that the AI pretty sits holed up in its own cities and only attacks, when the autoresolve says that it can't lose. Which is really pity, because for instance ToB has amazing siege maps, but the AI almost never attacks when there is a garrison.

How much of your problem boils down to git gud?

I'd say about half to 75% of your problem boils down to git gud.

Can archers fire into Japanese castles?

Archers can fire well into the courtyards of Japanese castles, and the Rome I cheese of mowing down hundreds of enemy soldiers with archers alone is now standard in Shogun 2. It's common for me to slaughter the entire garrison without losing a single man, since the central keep isn't far away from the walls to be out of bow range. Higher-tier Japanese castles have multiple layers of walls, but the problem just repeats itself: cheese the first layer from the outside, then cheese the second from the courtyard of the first.

Did Napoleon ever have siege battles?

Napoleon, on the other hand, never had any siege battles during the campaign since fortifications were simply too expensive to be worth considering. Both me and the AI would rather invest 8,000 gold into units or buildings rather than a static fortification. And mind you, 8k is for the first level!

Is Shogun 2 a siege?

When you put it that way, it makes a lot more sense. In terms of getting to fight siege battles, then yeah, Shogun 2 is up there. Since every settlement always has a Fort at the very least, then essentially every attack or defense of a settlement is a siege.
