
What's the deal with Sim settlements?
Unfortunately, Sim Settlements changes the way settlement building and management works. Normal trade routes are disabled, settler recruitment seemed to be capped, and I couldn't move settlers from one town to another. Couldn't get the vanilla experience with SS still running.

What are the problems with Fallout 4?
One of the biggest problems with Fallout 4, is just how disconnected the Settlement system feels from the rest of the game. Settlements lack that Bethesda game feel of exploration and progression, and so there's not much incentive to actually use the system. It also feels bizarre that you have to micromanage all these people, and personally plant seeds and decide where people sleep - you're their leader, not their mother! You're supplying these people with security and tons of resources, why can't they kick in and help out with building up the city?
Why do we have a tax system in Rise of the Commonwealth?
To make the system even more worth it beyond the visual reward of the above systems, a tax system is in place to ensure the settlements can have a huge impact on your gameplay. With major add-ons, such as Industrial Revolution and Rise Of The Commonwealth, tons of unlocks are added in the form of special buildings and settler inventions that you can use while you're out conquering the wasteland!
Why do buildings have upgrades?
Every building has multiple levels of upgrades that can be unlocked over time to keep you coming back to re-explore your own settlements and find out what's changed. Dynamic Needs [Optional]: To help make settlements more interesting, the basic needs of your settlers change over time, making keeping them happy more of a challenge, raids less predictable, and the upgrade unlocks feel like they were earned.
How many levels of support are there on Discord?
There are 5 different support levels with various reward levels starting with a special support Discord server all the way up to 1-on-1 conversation with Kinggath.
Is Sim Settlements free?
In no way will this money going towards paying for mods. Sim Settlements is free and always will be!
Do you need to have Sim Settlements mod 3.0?
Please note that you must have Sim Settlements core mod updated to 3.0 for Rise of the Commonwealth to function .
Can you add your own stuff to Sim Settlements?
Sim Settlements includes tons of resources for anyone to add their own stuff to the mod. While this can be done without parenting to Sim Settlements, it's a ton more work and will inflate the size of their mod. By making this an ESM, other mods can set this as a Master File and make direct use of some of the objects in Sim Settlements.
How to restore workshop menus?
Run the menu repair option in it's holotape options. This should restore your workshop menus if the mod that changed them has been removed.
How does HUDFramework work?
Kinggath: "HUDFramework attaches all of the extra elements to the compass when you start your game, and then moves them to the crosshair when you enter workshop mode." To show the Settlement Needs meters again, turn the crosshair back on."
How long does it take to build a building in Kinggath?
Kinggath: "Occasionally the game will fail to start the timer correctly. Once the scaffolding appears, a building should take less than a minute to build (unless you have Realistic Build Times on). So if you run into this, try using the Refresh Plot option on the sensor menu to see if it builds. If it continues to not build, you may want to scrap it and try building it again.
What does it mean when the settlement resource is at 999?
If a settlements resources are at 999, it means that the resources are being used into a deficit. The settlement system cannot handle negative numbers, so the resource count jumps to 999. This can be due to dynamic needs being on. With dynamic needs, some structures will require more power and water to run. The 4924 amount in the Pip-Boy is the same bug. If you see 4924 for any value, it means it is negative.
Is PIPBOY data vanilla?
Kinggath: "The pipboy data is a vanilla issue. I've investigated a solution, but it's pretty much going to require redesigning the pipboy flash files and the workshop scripts - which I'm trying to avoid with Sim Settlements (I want to keep compatibility up by not editing vanilla records/scripts in the mod)."
Is Sim Settlements Lite the same as Sim Settlements?
Kinggath: "This [Sim Settlements Lite] is exactly the same as Sim Settlements in functionality, except a smaller file size as some assets are removed. The idea of Sim Settlements Lite is to keep the core experience the same, but remove some of the bells and whistles that bloat the file size to help you guys on Xbox who are hindered by the current 2 GB limitation. The GOAL is to keep the Lite mod under 200 Mb, but that may not be possible forever, as new features will require more files. It will always be smaller than the core mod though."
Does the City Manager holotape spawn in the museum?
Issue: The City Manager holotape never spawned in the museum.
Getting Started
Important Note: the assumption of this page (and it's content) is that you already have the core "Sim Settlements" mod installed and enabled (either Sim Settlements or Sim Settlements Lite). If not, please do that now (or at least make sure to do it before you try to do any of the actions or follow any of the suggestions on this page.
First Steps
Sim Settlements needs for you "find" the Sim Settlements holotape called "City Manager 2078 Holotape" (in game) before you can start using Sim Settlements.
