What to see at Jamestown?
The Jamestown Settlement allows you to see how the first settlers lived and the conditions under which they established the settlement. Touring the ships was a fantastic experience. Parking was not an issue as so many visitors come and go. The American Revolution Museum was surprising as my 10 year old daughter enjoyed learning the events that led up to the Revolution. The outdoor displays at the Museum was worth visiting as the small crowds allow direct interaction with the staff so you get a wealth of information. My family ended up spending a little over an hour just walking around and enjoying the displays.
What was the best experience I had in Jamestown?
One of the best experiences I had was visiting the replica of the early settlement of Jamestown. The Indian village was well done with people dressed in costumes of that period. They gave free guided walking tours. If you are not a good Walker it might be a little hard. You could set your own pace and rest if needed. So much to see so little time.

The second is a reenactment of the actual settlement. there is an Indian village with people working the fields and making pottery. a woman gave us a detailed explanation of the houses. Then there is a fort where the colonists lived with several building to tour and craftsmen making leather and tin goods. Finally there are several ships that can be toured. We were lucky enough to see a demonstration of men climbing the masts to fix the sails. After that we toured the museum and saw many artifacts. Make sure you take about 3 hours to see all of this wonderful site.
