How to continue Jamestowne?

If you are so inclined, after you walk through Historic Jamestowne, you can continue your visit by doing the Island Drive. There’s a short loop and longer loop option, neither of which are very long. Both are clearly marked, just follow the signs from the Visitor Center parking lot. As you make your way around the island, interpretational signs will provide more information about what went on there.

How many ships were there at Jamestown?

Once you’ve had your fill of the Jamestown Settlement indoor exhibit galleries, you can make your way to the outdoor exhibits. There you’ll find re-creations of the three ships that brought 104 settlers to Jamestown, the Susan Constant, Discovery, and Godspeed. When we were there, all three ships were open for visitors to climb aboard and poke around. Living history interpreters answer questions about the ships and what the voyage may have been like.

How long is a Williamsburg tour?

Williamsburg Tours are either 2 hours or 3 hours duration. The minimum tour length for a Williamsburg tour is 2 hours. The 2 hr tour tour gives a good historical overview and orientation. The 3 hours is recommended for history lovers and parents who wish to introduce the Colonial History to their children.

How long is the Yorktown tour?

This tour is typically 3 hours. The driving time is about 20 min. from Williamsburg and 30 min. from Jamestown.

Can you meet a tour guide in Williamsburg?

Persons taking a tour may rendezvous with their guide at a designated location. When we confirm the Williamsburg tour, we will send you a map and description of the meeting location in Williamsburg.

Do you need admission to Colonial Williamsburg?

No admission tickets will be needed while on my Williamsburg tour. I leave the visitation to Colonial Williamsburg historic buildings up to my guests to do on their own time. My tour time is best spent introducing guests to the history and what is available to see on their own. Therefore, tickets o r admissions to Colonial Williamsburg historic buildings and trades are not included in the tour price. If access to Williamsburg historic buildings are desired after my tour, passes can be purchased at the time of the visit.

Can you take visitors to Colonial Williamsburg?

We generally do not take visitors into the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation historic buildings because, in the interest of the visitor, it is not the best use of the guide’s knowledge and the visitors money. But we will accompany visitors into buildings if our guests wish us to do so and if they do purchase admission passes for themselves.

Is admission included in guide fee?

Do you need admission passes to visit historic buildings?

How many ships arrived in Jamestown in 1610?

In the spring of 1610, just as the remaining colonists were set to abandon Jamestown, two ships arrived bearing at least 150 new settlers, a cache of supplies and the new English governor of the colony, Lord De La Warr.

During the late spring and summer months the "air is alive with a buzz" according to the settlers, so bring some insect repellant. And bring sun screen and plenty of water during the summer months as temperatures are often in the high 90's but seem like the 100's when you add the humidity.
