In Fallout 4, the Sole Survivor can build and manage their own settlements at various sites around the Commonwealth. The new workshop interface is used to place and connect pre-fabricated structures as well as individual pieces (walls, floors, roofs, etc.) letting the player character construct their own home base (s) as they desire.

What's new in Settlement raiding?

New version of the Settlement Raiding mod, no more batch files. Give you the ability to spawn custom raids using a new terminal. This mod does not have any known dependencies other than the base game.

How to get settlements to supply your outposts?

One option is to go all out attack - kill all the Minutemen that arrive to protect an outpost and bring the Settlers down to 0 health, then talk to their representative to secure the settlement as a supplier of food and materials. As with the conquest of a settlement to claim it as a raider outpost, you can also talk them into supplying you. The odds go up in your favor if you have Outposts nearby and Nuka World Radio Transmitters should still help with intimidation.

What do you get from Nuka World raiders?

Additionally, you will receive caps from the Tribute Chests. All of these things come with notifications, so you don't have to waste time checking.

Why do you need to improve settlements?

Improving Settlements beforehand will make more Settlers move in than, for example, if you had only 2-3 beds and a lone water pump. High population settlements cost more to enslave for a reason - they provide more food and building materials. Building up your Settlements before turning them into vassals, you can feed more raiders with fewer vassals. This allows you to make more raider settlements and get much more food from the daily tribute.

Do settlements give you access to shops?

Well, settlements really only give you access to some shops if you build them and also generate a small amount of money (again from the shops).

Do you get to kill raiders?

You get to kill raiders. Killing raiders never ceases to be fun.

Is settlement pointless?

Everything about settlements seems completely pointless and I'm leaning towards never engaging with anything. I'm stretched for time and unless my settlement is going to start outputting caps or bullets or something I care about I probably won't touch it again.

Can you scavenge for settlements?

Settlers can be assigned to scavenge for you. If you have enough settlements doing it, you basically end up sitting on a pile of hundreds of all item types. If you are the home building type this stuff will go to building more homes/decorations, but if not, you can use it to mod all your weapons/armor for basically nothing. Setting up a recruitment beacon and maybe a turret or two at all the locations you get sent to help by the Minutemen/Railroad takes like a second total, so it's not like it's super taxing.

Is settlement good for us?

The settlement stuff is great for us but yeah, I think we're in the minority on that. It doesn't have real benefits but it is nice to have a place to go back to every now and then that we know we crafted and relies on us to keep going.

Why is the settlement raid mod based on one custom settlement?

The new version of the Settlement Raiding Mod is now based around one custom made settlement (for now) The reason for this is to provide a controlled environment to test Scripts, AI, Raids and Functions. This may seem like one step forward to steps back as the batch files covered nearly all settlements however, The mod now uses a terminal to summon the raids and is now made using the creation kit which allows for a lot more functionality and stability. The mod now has a real foundation on which it can be fully realized and built upon. Once I have re-implemented all the raid types and have fully debugged any problems I will then push the mod back out to cover all settlements.#N#Index
