They aren't especially difficult due to their slowness. You just have to not get careless and let their numbers overwhelm you. Due to their fast movements, they're best dealt with directly with melee attacks. This applies to their many other appearances in the game.

You can get an Ember, Worker Garb, a Reinforced Club, two Pale Tree Branches, Cleric's Garb, a Blue Wooden Shield and Mortician's Ashes. The ashes are especially useful in expanding the inventory of the Shrine Handmaid. Right of the path is a small rock island which requires a careful jump.
