This may seem quite ambitious and complex to do by the first looks of it but I was thinking that Starbound should be a more natural and colonised universe that is not filled with set buildings and pre-made settlements (things like the different race villages, Apex labs, Human outposts etc.) but a randomly created settlement (colony) created by a few settlers on a planet who create their own unique NPC settlements (that are also built with their own races' techniques) and can constantly expand into larger settlements with a larger population. For example, if you place two NPC spawners on a planet which that race can survive on and give them some building materials (or program the AI to find materials and create tools) then they should be able to create a house, then a village, then a town, a city or even a state that can create trade among other nations, war against natives or other settlementsor independentely evolve from their other races' settlements with new technology, building styles and create ways of harvesting resources and expanding onto other planets or systems. It's quite a compex system but it would make Starbound a very in depth and immersive game, I feel like these changes will make the Starbound unviserse more of humans expanded and colonised over the Earth with some civilisations being more advanced than others and having more influece than others. I'm not fully expecting this to happen as this idea is quite ambitious and only increases the immersion in Starbound but I feel like it will go well with your ideas of allowing the player to board ships (piracy), the NPC spawners already in the game, the expansion of the already great looking settlements in the game and also how some of the races in the game are quite ambitious in wanting to colonise other planets or even split off from their own kind to great their own civilisations. Some areas of this idea may be a little sketchy and rough as I basically wrote down what I was thinking about at the time so I would appreciate any suggestions any improvements to this idea or any feedback on it..
