Another skill you should familiarise yourself with early on is how to set up a simple power grid. This will keep your base illuminated and also power devices that can harvest raw materials.
7. Keep within the budget
Much like Fallout 4, there is a limit to how much you can build in your C.A.M.P area, which means you should probably focus your resources on building a base that is practical over something flashy and filled with expensive furniture that you’ll never actually use.

Think of your CAMP like a mobile settlement. You can place it almost anywhere in the world; the only restriction is that it can’t be too close to an existing location or road. This prevents players from setting up shop slap-bang in the middle of a town for example.

The terrain of Appalachia is incredibly varied. From the mountainous Savage Divide to the smoggy Ash Heap, or even the terrifying Mire region, every location offers something unique. The problem with setting up CAMP in the high level areas is that enemies often spawn randomly and roam around.

The best part about the CAMP is that you can pack it up and move somewhere else whenever you want. If you save your entire base as a blueprint, which you can easily do within the build menu, then find somewhere else you’d prefer to operate from, you can move your C.A.M.P.
CAMPs vs. Public Workshops
Along with having your personal CAMP you’ll also come across locations called Public Workshops. These are situated at existing locations and act as permanent CAMPs that everyone can claim and use. You need to temporarily claim it when you find one though by clearing the entire location of enemies.

The important thing to note here is that you can still raise both to Ally regardless of the choice that you make. To do this, you will need to grind lots of daily quests for both Factions, but it is possible. The choice you make between the two does not lock you out of any purchasable items.

Although this seems like a big choice in the questline, players are actually able to obtain all of the plans from each Faction, regardless of who they help in the raid. When you side with a Faction, you will help them raid the Vault and then decide who gets the Gold Bullion that you find.
