TikTok parent company ByteDance agreed in February to pay $92 million as part of a class-action payout to settle allegations of harvesting personal data from users without their consent. As part of the settlement, which affects an estimated 89 million TikTok users, the company would have to change and disclose its data collection practices.

How Do I Qualify For Payment?

If you reside in the United States and used the App prior to September 30, 2021. If you and/or your minor child used the TikTok and/or Musical.ly application, You May Be Entitled to a Payment from a Class Action Settlement.

How Do I File a Claim and Get Paid?

You must submit a completed Claim Form to receive a payment. You will receive your payment by electronic means (unless you opt for an alternative form of payment). You can fill out a claim form on the official class action's website HERE .

What does this mean for users?

Eligible TikTok users were notified of the potential for a payout via an in-app notification sent out Monday. Those that received a notification fall into two camps: those included in the nationwide group, and those included in the Illinois subgroup.

How to get paid

If you or someone you know is included in the 89 million users affected by the TikTok settlement, you’ll need to submit a claim by March 1, 2022, in order to receive any payment. If you are eligible but don’t wish to take part in the settlement, you can also submit an exclusion form.
